German award nomination for
Bangladeshi film for eco-friendly filmmaking
In
the context of Global Warming, Climate Change, Cost reduction, and achieving
the UN Sustainable goal the Federal Ministry for the Environment (BMUV) and the
Heinz Sielmann Stiftung in cooperation with the Federal Government’s
Commissioner for Culture and Media (BKM) introduce the award Eisvogel – Prize
for Sustainable Film Production in 2021. There are two categories of awards,
one for mainstream film & TV production and the other for film school student
production. High officials from the German Federal Film Board (FFA) along with
environmental & media professionals are the jury members.
For
the first time Bangladeshi film school – International Academy of Film and Media
(IAFM) 4 (four) student short films, have been nominated for the 2022/23 addition
to Eisvogel – Prize for Sustainable Film Production award. The honorable
jury board has nominated 9 (nine) mainstream film productions and 5 (five)
student film productions out of the total submission of 28 productions.
The
International Academy of Film and Media (IAFM) produces and S. S. Multimedia
co-produce nominated 4 (four) films: RIYAN by Manos Mahedee, ISOLATION
by P. S. S. Gupta, COTTON CANDY by Tairan Razzak and A TALEL OF A HAUNTED
SOUL BY Towhid Riyadh. The award-nominated Green Managers are Ms. Shathi
Akter Dia, Ms. Saima Nasrin, Mr. P. S. S. Gupta, and Mr. Hafizuddin Munna. Mr.
Bibesh Roy has been nominated as a newcomer producer for this award. And they
got the certificates.
The
award-giving ceremony was held on 16th February 2023 Bangladesh from 6:00 PM to
8:30 PM in the Federal Ministry for the Environment courtyard in Berlin. Federal
Minister for the Environment and Consumer Protection, Steffi Lemke, and
the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media, Claudia Roth,
among personally invited guests.
First
time in the documentary category film Juli – Die Schüsse von München, in
the mainstream film category Irgendwas mit Medien and in the newcomer or
Film School production category film Exit Pangea from the oldest German
pubic Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf owns the prestigious Eisvogel
Prize 2023. In fact, IAFM nominees received their certificates online from
the Eisvogel Prize Authority.
Mention
that the International Academy of Film and Media (IAFM) is the first
Bangladeshi film school to become a prestigious Green Film School Alliance
membership. These nominations will inspire us to produce more sustainably with the
Green Filming approach. This achievement for Bangladesh.
